You create  those symptoms not the nicotine.

So why do you get those symptoms? Well your mind is in two parts, your conscious mind, which is only 5% of your brain, it gathers information from your sight, hearing, taste, sense of smell and then makes decisions, it is also that voice in your head the one that has been nagging you to stop smoking. Your subconscious mind is 95% of your total minds capacity and is extremely powerful, it runs your body, has all your memories, skills, knowledge, but it doesn't think, that's the job of the conscious mind. It does however listen to that voice in your head, and when you use a negative like no, can't, mustn't have a cigarette or food or whatever you are trying to give up, then it begins to crave for whatever it is being denied.

When you use negatives your subconscious mind wants it more and more, the craving starts and as time goes on the argument in your head between the two parts of your mind makes you irritable, gives you mood swings and bad temper and the craving gets worse.

Lets me illustrate this to you................

 I am going to ask you now NOT TO THINK ABOUT ZEBRAS!

Ok what’s on your mind?  I bet you are thinking about Zebras! The reason is I used the NEGATIVE  “DON’T”.

Now lets look at what happens if we use Positive Suggestions, you say that a cigarette relaxes you, well all smokers say that, because they have told themselves that for years.  You like all smokers have said, with that voice in your head, "when I get out of here and have that cigarette, I WILL RELAX” That is a positive suggestion your subconscious mind remembers it and when you put the cigarette in your mouth and take in the smoke you relax.

However,  in fact your heart beat just went up 20 beats, your blood pressure went up, your body started to produce more adrenaline, all that makes you much more stressed, but you told  your subconscious mind that you will relax, so you did. Your subconscious mind disregarded all those actual body reactions and allowed you to relax. To me that is more difficult than stopping you smoke and you achieve that all the time!
